I have a small stash of ~ 60 year old Brazillian rosewood that I would like to process into bridge blanks.

Before I ruin any of it, I thought it wise to double check on dimensions to aim for for various blanks.

Minimum dimensions (especially width and thickness) you would recommend for the following would be greatly appreciated:

Pyramid
Classical
Accoustic
12 string

Thanks in advance

Unless you’re planning to distribute them, why not leave it as it is until you’re ready to use it? It’s hard to accurately guess what you might want to do in the future.

What bobgramann said. Never cut anything off until you have to. A long time ago I cut some BRW into 'standard' sizes for making parts that I never ended up making. I still have those pieces of wood around, too small for a whole raft of parts that I do need.

If the 'need' is to make some money selling wood you won't use, then it makes some sense to make standard blanks out of it. Resist the temptation to cut things 'just' to size. Better to have five pieces someone can use than six they can't.

I should have been more clear in the first post.

I agree with you Bob and Al, and that is why I still have the BRW in it's current short cutoffs form.
Unfortunately my building days are behind me, my wife has developed serious wood allergies and would like to see my stash disappear, and the dimensions of the remaining rosewood would only be appropriate for a few fretboards and some bridge blanks.

It seemed to me highest use is to get the wood to other guitar builders in a usable form, rather than for it to end up in the hands of (gods forbid) wood-turners or other heathens, or it getting pitched by some well intentioned non-builder whenever it's time for me to move on.

I've only built SS acoustics, hence the request for minimum useable dimensions acceptable for other instrument bridges. The wood's thicknesses and widths are my limiting factors - I plan on oversized lengths which I have more control of.

Some might be useful for mandolin fretboards but I have no idea if BRW fretboards are a desirable thing in that world.

Ukulele Bridge blanks are 3/8" x 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" , Fretboards Tenor size 1/4" x 2" x 12-1/2", head plates are thin, 3-1/2" x 6" I'd buy these three. Standard steel string is. 1/2" x 2" x 8" I'd buy some of these as well
