Stew-Mac has a calculator on their website that gives compensated saddle placement measurements for any scale length. Might be a good place to start.
They also have the Saddlematic...

Does any one other than me wonder if a cricket is an alter ego?

Do some beginners suffer a compensation complex?

Build a lap style slide and fuggetaboottit?

OK, I hope I don't flash anyone with my ignorance.  Martin's 25.4 is actually 25.34 on a D-28 style guitar.  If you were to look at a set of plans by, I think, MacRostie, the compensated length, from the nut to the middle of the saddle at it's center point is written down as 25.465.  Now with that said, a friend of mine, who has played almost every guitar I have made (since I am not that good) finally told me last week that they all tend to intonate a little sharp.  Glad he finally got around to telling me that...before guitars # 15 and 16. I went a little longer (25.490) on the last two, and he said "Bingo!".  What I added was what Cumpiano I believe recommends in his book, which is .15"  And that is with a 3 degree saddle.  I hope I haven't tossed a monkey wrench into the turbine....
