High all,

Do jazz bass pickups use springs so that they are height adjustable? I figure the screws that hold them in would go through the springs but can't figure out how to get everything to slot into place when installing them.

A block of stiff foam under the pickup is the traditional method.

I have always had better luck using foam also.

Foam all the way, I use the black self adhesive foam used to seal windows and air conditioners a large roll
is about $5.00 Its great for lining a pickup ring on an arch top guitar to stabilize loose and vibrating pickups. Invisible when
done right.
