Post subject:	NUMBER 6, MY FIRST ELECTRIC !!!!
Well, I've just finished my first electric. It is based on the Gibson CS 336, hollowed out mahogany body with spalted maple top (THANKS Uncle Bob C.). The back stripes are b/w fiber and walnut, ebony fb, headplate, and binding; Schaller gold tuners with ebony buttons; pickups are Gibson 1957 classic and classic plus, pearl is white/gold mop from DePaul. THE PHOTOS are lousy, I know that. It sounds really, really, really good and I'm just happy I didn't electrocute myself. If the pictures post, thanks for looking!! I love it Ron my friend!!!!! I also agree that this was no easy guitar to build and you knocked it out of the park!!! Killer zoot too as always from Uncle Bob at RC Tonewoods. Amazing!

Ron that is one HOT guitar. Goes quite well with our Arkansas Temps the last few days. Thanks for sharing those great pics with us. Can you compare and contrast the differences between building electrics and acoustics? (essay question for a natural born teacher) Great job.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I can see in a couple of the pics that I didn't get all the rubbing compound off. Terry, I've always loved log homes and my wonderful wife let me build this one about 8 years ago. Great way to live. I'll have to dig to see if I have any digital photos to send you. Rod, this is for me. The only decent electric I ever owned was a Les Paul. Ten years ago, as an incentive to help my oldest son learn to play guitar, I told him if he learned to play, I would give it to him. He did, I did, and I haven't played an electric for many years. When I'm gone to that great workbench in the sky (or where ever) this guitar goes to my other son. I only plan to build this one and now back to acoustics. Ron

Thanks, Bruce Overall, the electric was easier to build but; there are different skills required. I suspect a solid body with a bolt on neck would be the easiest guitar to make, but a hollowed out one with a set neck was pretty demanding. It's just different and not as delicate as an acoustic. Ron

Mr. Ron, that is one beautiful guitar! That gold hardware looks wonderful on that top, and the fb markers just pull it all together. Just plain perty! That sure is a nice place you got there to play it, too!

Sorry about being slow to the party Ron, but heh, what a guitar! I abosolutely love it, it looks just so organic with the spalted maple and I absolutely love the twin tail grafts. The whole thing just shouts quality. It's without doubt the electric from the forum that I would most like to get my hands on. It's a outstanding guitar from a standout guy. You should be very proud of yourself. Now send it over to me and I'll record some sounclips on it for you (might take a year or two ) Colin

Lovely, Ron! I played a 335 as my main electric for years, so I am really fond of that shape. Your version of it is really handsome, now go and play "Sweet Sixteen"!

Ron.... This guitar is gorgeous! I love the way the lines from the FB follow though the back and into the tail graft. What makes a 336 different from a 335? - If it's because you've improved on what Gibson did... then I understand! long

Bob the CS 336 is from Gibson's custom shop and is simply a smaller version of the 335 in its shape. I really don't know enough about the electronics to know how different they are there. Like Arnt, I've always liked the shape of the 335 (B.B. King's Lucille), but it always seemed too large for me. This model is a real nice compromise. Ron
