With inspiration from Ken H. and Michael P. , I thought I'd share a similar story, albeit a little sentimental to me.

Below is a photo of my Dads first guitar build, about half completed.
Mahogany back and sides, (his first attempt at bending) and Engleman spruce top, all trimmed out in M. Ebony. He got to this point with his guitar about 1 year ago before having a stroke upon returning home that night.
I walked him through the entire build and shared stories about how this could become a lucrative hobby for him. He was 62 at the time and suffering from diabetes and a troubling prostate.
I have kept this guitar on a stand in my shop, waiting for him to finish it. Hoping he will be able to. A few months ago he had to have his left leg amputated due to diabetes and then required heart surgery in quadruple by-pass. I have been thinking about finishing his guitar and bringing it to him. But he gets a "new" prosthetic leg tomorrow and has told me that he will be back to finish his guitar.
My Dad and I have been very close for the last 10-15 years, working together in cabinetry and remodeling, so this is hard for me to see him this way. He really can't play anymore because the stroke left his arm numb and his fingers weak.
Anyway, I read the threads about helping others and it just made me reflect...for what it's worth, I applaude Ken and Michael for their efforts and spirit. And everyone else here, very genuine people.
Way to go guys..

That's awesome! That picture needs to be on your website Nehemiah.

Wishing your dad a speedy recovery. Even if he can't play it, he'll love to have the guitar and he'll be proud that you guys were able to build it together.

It has been Rod, I only took it off because he insists I wait till he finishes it. Out of respect for him I did. I proudly display it to everyone that comes to my shop.
Thanks for the kind words Rod

Nice Guitar!

I'm glad you shared this story with us. It helps to inspire me to help others even more. Bless you for doing this with your Dad.
