Ok - give it up folks and lets see whats happening in your shops please?

I am currently busting my butt to get this Colin inspired Cuban/Euro (Thanks Dave!) done so that I can drive it to my buddy Joe's next week for a poly finish. I just got the neck on and I am starting to floss my cheeks...... :o :D

Dont have any pix but ....

6 new ones about to start, one an order from last years MGS, a coco/adi multiscale Signature florentine with armrest and ribrest. A triple order for a couples three kids - this years Christmas gifts from Mom and Dad (how sweet is that), a nylon string for a previous client, and a ziricote/italian spruce Signature going overseas. Plus a couple special ones, one a new treat for myself. Might have it ready for the MGS, we'll see .... couple spec guits too if I can manage ...

Three new students started up (two acoustics, one electric), a couple almost done, and two from Sept start.

needless to say .. Its busy !!!

I'm wrapping up a run of a dozen travel guitars, 9 of which were commissioned as prizes for the Legendary Banked Slalom snowboard competition at Mt Baker. Mt Baker is one of the places where snowboarding took off early on and they have been running this race for more than 20 years! They have an awesome tradition of hiring local artists to build prizes.

Bob Garrish is making pickguards with an inlay of the ski area logo. I'll post some pics of those on the finished guitar when they're done.

Hopefully next is an 8-string fan-fret, a couple other orders and 2 for Healdsburg.

Wow Kent, the banked slalom really brings back memories for me. I started snowboarding in 1986/87 when it was pretty much outlawed on most local mountains. Mt. Baker was one of the only places to go where they had no problem with the one plankers.

I entered in the banked slalom on my second season as a snow boarder and WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS!!! Second corner I went flying out of the course and I was done. Actually many boarders ended up that way so I didn't feel too bad.

Any way. Nice guitars there and thanks for the memories.

Kent ,

I'd love to see the logo. I'd like to also hear more about the travel guitars as well. I suppose your website?

The Back Yard Guitar (well almost)

Sitka, Maple and cherry bindings 12 fret parlour. Some from my yard and some from not to far. Wenge purfs and headplate. Mac Ebony FB and bridge. Not from around here I'm pretty sure.

Sadly I'm only getting weekends to work on it. Too much other, not as fun, stuff going on in the shop.

AND, nice Kent. Way to go Baker! And way to go Rod! We had to pass a test and were issued a special pass to board at Big White. Same era.

Cheers,
Danny

Danny, that little parlor is looking awesome. And it's good to see some pics of your new shop. Care to give us a virtual tour?

OK, here's what's happening in my shop.

Making some W/K precision router bases. Shipping tomorrow.

And here's the guitar I'm working on (well one of them) right now. An EIR/Cedar in my GA shape. This is in "the booth" right now. I'm trying out the new(er) Target EM6000 water base lacquer and I have to say that I really really like it. It self levels very well and once (as with most finishes) you have the gun set up, it spray beautifully. This is 9 coats which is sprayed over 3 days. I need another 2-3 coats, then I can let it sit for 2 weeks, level, buff and polish.

Don't mind the green balloon, it's what we had :D

No wonder I couldn't get a sanding block off you Rod. Did you find something a little more lucrative? They look great. What did you use for a knob at the adjustment? Looks like it's off an electric.

Guitar looks awesome. Nice Cutaway! Maple purfling? I love the tone of Cedar.

I'll do the virtual tour of my shop when I have a wee bit of free time.

Enjoy The Day,
Danny

So many great guitars (and media centers!)!

Last night I decided I'd do something small every day until my current acoustic is done. I have a hard time getting out to do bigger tasks, so it just sits in limbo and my scatter-project mind goes somewhere else. Last night I marked the ends of my loose ribs, and tonight I'll trim them.
