A few years back we made a group buy of some excellent brass planes made by a guy (?) in England. I have used mine a LOT so I thought I would sharpen the iron on my new Jet sharpener. Boy did I wreck it and now I have no clue how to get the correct iron angle back. I have experimented with differnet angles and none seem to cut as well as the original angle. Anyone have any idea what the correct angle is on these tiny planes irons? My plane is about an inch or so long. |

Try this, its by far the best honing guide i have ever had and you can easily sharpen finger plane blades. hi craftmanship is awsome and his luthier planes are stunning. http://richardkell.co.uk/honingECom.htm Joel. |

That would be a really good buy right now if you are inclined. The pound is just trashed compared to the dollar right now - something like 1.35 dollars to the pound. |

Hey Tim, He sent me a couple of those little planes as well. The angle is 25 degrees, with no secondary bevel. Hope that helps! Shane |

Tim, Veritas has a small blade holder that might help. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx ... 43078&ap=1 |
