Dylan - I haven't attended one yet, but I have received nice stuff from him in the last couple of years. I see that he is auctioning off a space in the upcoming July building course at the Guild of American Luthiers website (www.luth.org). Might be a good chance to get in on a class for a reduced price....giving you more cash to buy wood!

I've know Dave for years. Nice guy. I know of many people who have taken his courses.

And you just GOTTA go to Tugaske!

I haven't taken David's course either but I have been to his shop a couple of times. He started working on preping for the upcoming courses a month or two ago, I shipped him a LOAD of bracewood. Tugaske is a tiny little prairie village that offers no other distractions while you are there. David has a very structured approach that is/was based on lectures in the morning, get at building in the afternoon. He has been doing this for quite a few years in both Canada and New Zealand. His students do come from all over the world. His shop is certainly not "state of the art" which is actually a bonus because then you will actually get to learn the processes intimately.

Hope some of this helpful and hopefully some of his past students will chime in.

I attended David Freemans " building for playability " seminar at the GAL convention, I am so glad I did , he covered everything from saddle to nuts, it was very enlightening. He is a very personable individual.I am sure his building class would be over the top! Jody

I'm an ex student of Dave's. I did Dave Freeman and Paddy Burgins 3 week course in New Zealand back in 2005. Course was well worth the money and Dave is an excellent teacher (Paddy too) and always willing to share his trade secrets with his students.

Cheers Martin
