Post subject:  Body dimensions for a Selmer style guitar?

Hello, I'm new here and a complete novice to guitar building, but I was curious if maybe anyone here might be able to tell me what the dimensions are for the old Selmers. I'm going to be starting my first build in a couple of weeks as soon as I get my wood in, and will attempt a couple more guitars before tackling the Selmer, but I would like to start drafting the plans for it now. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Here are some great resources:

Building A Selmer Maccaferri Guitar
By Michael Collins (available from OLF sponsors - LMI and Stew Mac)

Plans for Selmer- Macaferi D-Hole and the Selmer 807 Jazz Guitar (LMI)

An excellent mold for the S-M body shape is available from OLF sponsor John Hall at Blues Creek

The best strings for these guitars that I've found (Manouche-Tone)can be gotten at Guadalupe Custom Strings
in L.A. http://www.guadalupecustomstrings.com

Best of luck, John

Here are some sites where you can get info:

http://www.lehmannstrings.com/guitars_gypsy-manouche.htm

http://www.royaljazzguitars.co.uk/

http://www.lutherie.net/sitemap.html

At this site you can download a plan, which is not complete, but will give you a good start.

The site and plan are in French, but you should have no problem decifering the info

This site is selling plans and books.

Buy the plans! Don't even try to draw your own. The Francois Charles plans are so good, so detailed, that there is no way that you can collect that much information for cheaper than it costs to buy the plans.

The Francois Charle plans are very good but be cautious as the neck block shown on the plans is incorrect. The block is shown constructed as a rectangle when in fact it must be tapered where it meets the cut away in order to match correctly with the taper of the heel of the neck. Other than that you will gain an abundance of info from it.
