Some of you may know this and others it may be news to. But I guess at the turn of the last century (1900), guitar builders and mando builders sometimes used the 9th fret position markers and sometimes the 10th. It appears that guitar makers later standardized on the 9th fret maker. The mandolin makers seem to have standardized on the 10th position. Now, I am making ukes, and copied a uke made in the 30's. It had the marker at the 10th fret. That is what I did. BUT>>> my uke plans (which I am only sort of following) show the marker at the 9th. Looking online, most of the ukes I find are using the 10th position marker like mandolins.

Anyone have reason to believe, I should use one version over the other? The uke I am working on right now has it placed at the 10th, which looks strange to me, but seems to fall in line with other modern makers..
