What's the best way to use Micromesh, circular motion or back and forth with the grain? |

Both... I use it with the grain when using it dry. I use it in circular motion when wet sanding. Both have provided wonderfully smooth and uniformly polished surfaces. |

If hand sanding than strainght lines if using the orbital pads the the random orbit is fine as long as you go through the progression. If you did not know that micromesh was available in 5" RO pads go to http://www.micro-surface.com |

Is this on bare wood or finish. If on the finish, what would going with the grain direction do. At that point grain direction doesn't have anything to do with it. It should be a smooth surface. |

Zach is right. If it's the finish, there is no grain, although crisscrossing your sanding will be more efficient. The only reason to go with the grain when sanding the finish is if you plan on leaving some scratches in. Of course, on my final buffing I do go with the grain because even though the scratches are so fine that they can't be seen with the naked eye, I know they are there and I figure I might as well have them go with the grain of the wood. I really don't think it matters though. |
