Post subject:  White plastic binding and the finishing process

Hi All,

This sounds silly coming from a guy who has built 6 guitars, but this is the first one with white plastic binding. I've scraped them all flush and smooth top, bottom and sides, all looks purdy, but then I thought about the up-coming filling process. Mask them off? The more they get sanded on, the more scraping you have to do to get them smooth again right? Just looking for the best practice when using white bindings. My last guitar had torqouis binding and being dark, wasn't really an issue, but I also did the filling before glueing on the binding.

Binding should be sanded to. I make the binding a few thou under the side. The correct procedure is to apply filler and scrap off the filler from the binding.
