Another fine production Robbie! I've been meaning to build myself one of these. The method I use now is very simple but not as work reducing as this one. Thanks for including Ed Dick in on this one too. I've always liked his Banjolas. |

Robbie: Was shown a similar method by the late Bill Lewis many years ago and have joined every plate I have ever made using 4 slats,4 wedges and a coil of rope. Must say your system is much more refined and sure looks like a winner. Have enjoyed all your videos and always seem to learn something from each one. You are a credit to the luthery community. I use a jig like this for all my plate joining. You can get them from LMI (link in the advertizers above) for around $100. Although you could makone yourself, it's not as easy as it might seem at first. You have to make sure the top frame is absolutely dead flat, or you will end up with bad glue joints. Also, standard rope cleats are not very ergonomic - the plastic type supplied with the LMI jig are MUCH better and easier to use. Cheers, Dave F. |

I've used many of your videos Robbie and without them I would have honestly been lost on my first build. Some fairly difficult things are made a lot more easier when you see it done properly. Not sure if you have done a video on this at all, but if not something regarding cutting the mortise and tenon accurately when preparing the neck for joining. |
