Just finished this peghead/heel neck carving for a (in the works) OM. Maybe I'll have time to finish this one next month....as my classical fan fret is still in the works too.
I used a dark tint antiquing with the stippled background to give it a bit more contrast.

Great workmanship!

I'm not bowled over by the design though - like most decorative carving I've seen, it kind of looks/feels "old fashioned". Is there any such thing as "modern" carving I wonder?

I've done lots of contemporary carving, but my requests for carving are about 10 to 1 towards traditional. I am a commission carver and usually do and design what people want. If someone wants a modern design....I'll be happy to design and carve something for them.

I'll experiment with a couple carved neck designs (soon) that have contemporary flare.....but then, I'll also want to move the guitar to a more non traditional shape. I'll test that contemporary guitar building water when I get the confidence and knowledge to do it... and has the potential of actually sounding like a guitar.
