Looks great Rob! I never have built with Zebra wood, what's it like to work with?

Thanks Chuck, It's not that bad to work, although edge tools can be problematic on it. It's got very interlocking grain patterns. I tried planing it by hand and machine at first and got crazy tearout, and it was a little hard to join by plane on my shooting board. Bending it was a breeze though. I did it on my pipe, and it was a piece of cake.

Very nice, Rob. I have a soft spot in my heart for Zebrawood. Or maybe it's a soft spot in my head! :D It is difficult to work, but it makes a beautiful guitar, and it has a good supporting role in the sound area. My first was Zebrawood.

No Colin that's not a binding accident, that's artifact from those darn digital cameras making the grain look like it doesn't line up. ;)

Do you guys miss nothing???? The router grabbed there and I ended up with a mess, tried my best to match up the grain, but as you can see, I didn't work out so well oops_sign

Very nice guitar Rob! [clap] [:Y:] [clap] [:Y:] [clap]

I just picked up a slab of zebrawood that I plan to make a couple of guitars with eventually, so it's good to hear that it's not too hard to work with.

On the subject of missing things....are you planning on putting a truss rod cover on it?

Cheers,
Dave F.

lovely looking guitar Rob [:Y:] . At the minute I'm in the middle of my first build which has back and sides of Zebrawood and I think its beautiful stuff. Its supposed to be tonally similar to Rosewood .... just wondering if you've found that to be true?

Don't worry, I probably noticed because recently I was luckier with my binding accident.
Messed up and binding router guide climbed up into purfling ledge, oops_sign so cut into the back (2mmx 2mmx 30mm) where I didn't mean to.
Fortunately it was in EIR, so after fitting the binding and purfling I was able to fill with rosewood dust and CA.
Also broke up the edges with black permanent marker to lose it in the grain - most impossible to see under finish unless you know it's there.

The zebrawood looks great. Also I like the body shape. I used zebrawood for a cigarbox guitar fretboard last year.

Looks great Rob.
Nice work.
We all have binding horror stories to tell.
Isn't that right guys??
I think the odor of Zebrawood is a bit different.
How about you?

Yeah, kinda smell like.....I don't know, wet donkey??? No great. The nice cinnamon smell of the Pau Ferro makes up for it though,

I knew I forgot something on this guitar, I didn't even realize I never put the trussrod cover on it oops_sign
