I don't think I am personally bothered by it....but I wonder If it won't present an opportunity for some persnickety buyer to start circling the drain when he sees it on his / her guitar.

When I cut this stuff....there are random patches inside the boards (the one that I've snipped at anyway) that are significantly lighter in color...almost white with shades of pink. I've seen it before on back and side sets here on the forum. Here are some pics of some pyramid and mustache (I think that's the term) bridge blanks I cut today. You can see the patches in the photos. Just as an aside, the annular rings on this wood is so close I have to put it under a mag lamp to see it!

Any advice is most appreciated!

This is typical of freshly cut Brazilian. Those light patches will oxidize to a darker orange or brick red color given time. Of course the dark areas will remain dark but the oxidizing of the light areas will present a much more uniform color in a few months.

As Gump would say .. brazilian is like a box of chocolates .. you never know what you'll get.

I have a stash of brw bridge blank sized pieces from the mid 80s ... for the most part, it all looks to be dark as its totally oxidized to a depth of 1/8 inch sometimes. However, when you cut it open, the colour inside can range anywhere from light yellow/brown, thru orange, to reddish brown to chocolate brown to almost black on a piece by piece basis ... it is what it is .. the most colourful wood in the world IMO.

I had the same thing resawing IER. Never saw it before then so at first I thought it was my freinds thickness sander but it became apparent after much hand sanding that was not the case. Little white streaks/patches.
