I am just getting ready to start my 2nd guitar. It is going to be a 12 fret, parlor size guitar. I have a nice set of black walnut B&S and dark brown cedar top. What be a good selection for binding and peghead veneer? I am thinking about rosewood for the fretboard and bridge. Any suggestions? Thanks Dave |

If using rosewood for the fretboard and bridge I would probably use a matching rosewood for the peghead veneer as well. Are you looking for contrasting or complementary/subtle on the binding? Curly maple or holly could be good choices for contrasting. If looking for something a little more subtle perhaps koa or some sort of rosewood? |

I'd say similar to evanmelstad... A nicely figured koa binding could adds a beautiful color between the walnut and the cedar. Some maple can give you a bigger contrast, but i wouldn't do this, not on walnut. (my POV) Ebony is always a good choice, if you want something classy that don't flashes too much, it could be your choice. I think it could enhance the warm tone of both black walnut and cedar. Or, if you find some rosewood that matches with FB and bridge and that looks great on your walnut, it also could be an idea. And for the peghead, from my side I prefer when it matches with the back and sides than with the FB. My 0.02$! Good build! Francis |

If you're building a parlour, you probably have lots of extra side material you can cut for bindings. Separate with a black maple black purfling & it would look great. The back should have plenty of extra for a bookmatched peghead veneer & a multi piece rosette. All depends on how purple the rosewood is... |
