Chuck Check Ebay for guitar plans(PilgramsProjects). This is a guy there who has twelve string plans in Michigan. Word is he is a Nazi(from this Forum) so buyer beware, if you are inclined. I have purchased from him in the past with no problem , or propaganda. Here is a link http://cgi.ebay.com/ACOUSTIC-GUITAR-PLA ... 439a4aa4f4 let your weapon be your guide Bob |

Chuck...if you have a 6 string Dred plan then you don't need to buy another. Here's what I've gleaned over the years as "rules of thumb" for accounting for the needs of a 12 string: 1) Thickness the top about 10% greater than for a 6 string 2) X-Brace width = 5/8" wide and about 25% higher at the junction than for a 6 string. 3) Bridge plate about 3/8" wider than normal. I can only claim a total of one 12er (EIR / Lutz) using this formula but it's been stable and singing nicely at concert pitch for over 2 years now. Others who have made more 12 strings might have additional info. |

Bob, I've bought stuff thru Pilgrims Progress before and been very happy with their service. Thank you for the link. JJ, thanks for you input as I always consider you as a Master. I will indeed just go off your guidelines. Hope you have a great week. Hutch |

I appreciate the vote of confidence, Hutch but I can assure you that there is nothing masterful other than a willingness to tell of my experiences and share information. As always, there are many ways to skin the cat and others have probably made 12ers in equally successful different ways. As you get into your project, feel free to ask away and hopefully I can help where I can. |
