Post subject:  Allied rod , flat side to top or bottom
hi,
I’m in proces of installing my first Allied rod

I read instructions from Allied web site and its all clear BUT guys on another forum suggest mostly to put flat side up.
idunno
What is yore way and suggestions?
What is advantage or disadvantage?

Guys on other forums say to put the flat side up, and so does allied.

Not sure where you're getting mixed signals.... From allied's website:

"These truss rods should be installed flat side facing the fingerboard (round rod at bottom of slot) with a filler strip over them."

I put mine flat side up with a mahogany spline over the top.

From a post one of the guys made on the ANZLF the other day I think there is a typo on the Allied site that has cause some confusion for those new to building. I so they probably should fix it.

yeah, again I check Allied site and it's fixed. Some day's ago it was written
" these truss rods should be installed with flat side down and filler strip over them".

I've got one in a guitar that is flat side down. I still used a filler strip. Had to do it so the adjustment nut would clear some adjustable neck hardware (I put the pivot point a bit too high). The rod works just fine except you have to turn the wrench the opposite direction to adjust it.
