what happens when you let your 11 year old loose on a colour palette. This concert ukulele was the effort of my daughter and myself. She was mostly design consultant but did do a bit of sanding. Fun to build and finish and fun to play!

I didn't really plan for a black top but discovered a good reason to maybe go a little easy with the power sanders on the top once the rosette is in. Just prior to finishing I sanded through part of the Black/Maple/Black on it and it was either paint it or re top it. Obvious choice.

It's a Maple back sides and neck and maple burl for rosette. I used these dyes https://www.woodessence.com/ColorFX-Dye ... s-C12.aspx in alcohol on bare wood. I thought purple would be quite fetching but was over ruled. She decided on blue and green and I threw in a little black for the heck of it. I'm very happy with the results of using this product on bare wood. This was pretty much an experiment as I have little experience using dyes and none using an airbrush. I ended up with this airbrush.http://www.airbrushoutlet.com/hset.html. I liked the fact that it came with 3 tips. The smallest one worked great for the dye that I used and I'm hoping the larger tips will work well for dyed lacquer.
