My gut is I have over worked this top, which was already thin to begin with. Right now it is at .90 before finish sanding. Brace it very stiffly or start over? |

If its that thin, I would guess its also getty too floppy .... plus its not finish sanded - i would leave it for a 0/00 at most ... |

Unless it's an exceptionally dense and stiff piece of spruce, I'd agree that it's probably too thin for a Dread. Just as a point for future reference: the suppliers charge a lot for tight grained wood because people like it. However, tightness of grain doesn't correlate well with anything that determines either mechanical or acoustic performance. The two most important things I've found are the density of the wood, which is a good predictor of how stiff it is along the grain, and the degree to which it's quartered, which has to do with cross grain stiffness. |
