Post subject:  Correct Springs For Fox Side Bending Jig ?

I am building a Fox side bending jig but I need to know the correct springs to use for the jig. Could someone tell me the correct model, size, manufacturer, etc. for the springs I need ? I'm also not sure if the springs for the vertical portion of the jig are the same as the ones used for the cauls on either side of the jig.

I know they are likely available at a local hardware center but I'm not sure of the correct ones to purchase. Thanks for any assistance.

I just converted my system wit a press and spring after years of a rudimentary I-bolt and wing nut system. Been meaning to do it for years, but never got around to it. I broke my first side (hondo hog) and it finally made me get around to it. It ended up just being bad wood as the second side cracked in the same spot with the new bender. Haven't had trouble since. It makes it sooooo much easier and stress free with the press and springs.

Anyway I went through a few springs until I found some with the right length and tension. I got them from Lowes. 0.080 gauge, 0.80ish diameter and around 7-7.5" long. Could be just a tad stronger, but I clamp across the entered thing to get it really tight when im done bending and for cool down. So pretty close to Todds, but a bit longer.

No tower springs here.

I'm not sure, but I think John Hall sells spring sets.
When I built my bender, I was feeling stingy & tried some bungee cord I found lying around. Just made loops in the ends using tie-wraps. Works fine.
One day I'll get the right springs, but the bungee cords have been working for several years.

Thanks for the info for John Hall from Blues Creek Guitars. He does carry them. He also has some other supplies I needed at reasonable prices, so I'm getting an order together. Thanks !
