I have a buddy a little ways from here (non luthier) who's cleaning out his garage...he sent me these photos wondering what this wood may be worth...says it's just been sitting there for a few years and it's time to do something with it...I think this is okay here, if not Lance please remove this post and accept my apologies...the wood isn't mine and I'm not selling it (my friend may not sell either, I don't know)...right now he's just curious about value and since it's mahogany and maple I thought someone here could help him... I bought about 30 Mahogany planks very much like those pictured about 3 years ago for $250. Most were well quartered and a few were flat sawn and I wanted those for making up laminated neck blanks. Mine are all about 2-1/2" thick. Chuck |

12/4 mahogany is about $10 per board foot. If I read the measurements right, there are 5 pieces, for a total of 17.45 board feet. About $175 worth. Thick mahogany of that quality is getting hard to find. Curly maple for instruments can vary tremendously in price, but a good starting place for average figure is about $9.00 per board foot. The maple board is 2.21 board feet, which would run about $20.00. |

Skip the maple and get the mahogany if it's a fair price. |

Offer $100. It'll sit around for a while before you figure out to do with it though. Looks like some nice wood, just not quite the right sizes.... |

Thanks guys! I'll pass the info along...I don't want to get too involved since I like getting my stuff closer to usable thickness/widths from the OLF suppliers... |

Nice wood. I'd do 3 and 4 piece electric bodies out of that mahogany in a heartbeat if I had the chance. Looks like great wood! |

resaw for four piece back and side sets. Thats what I would do. |
