After burning a couple narrow chisels on my grinder I decided to order a Tormek. I have been looking at it for a while and decided to take the plung. I am hoping that if I have an easier way of sharpening my tools I would use hand tools more. If anyone owns one I would be interested to hear how they like it or if they have any special ways of using it. I have a nice honing setup but grinding has always been an issue.

I have an older version. Use a Truing Tool (I have an older ADV-50D Truing Tool and an advancing screw from Tallow Tree http://tallowtree.com/index.html) to get to a true, 220 grit surface for grinding...just take a few thou off the stone. The new TT-50 truing tool included with the T7 has issues with slop and leaves chattering marks and ruts unless they have fixed it. If you can't find an ADV-50D the Jet DT-1 is a better designed tool in my opinion with the addition of the advancing screw. A lot of people don't like the Tormek because it takes them forever to establish the initial bevel. They probably just used the coarse side of the grading stone. I've not been able to get it to do much other than mess up my square stone face. |

hi ive got a jet one i think its pretty good after truing the wheel the blade jig needed a bit of fettling so it was 90 to the wheel and i took a bit too much off ![[headinwall]](./images/smilies/headbangwalluf8.gif "Mad") because i was grinding a plane iron that looked like it was used as a boltster i cant describe it too well ill just say when your setting it up Make sure you use a just dulled iron instead of the bluntest thing you see in the shop  tomas
