At the office this morning for me, then its off to visit Mom and Dad for the afternoon. Hope to hit the shop this evening, providing "family" lets me by not making "on the fly" plans. Here is what I have been working on.... Not pictured is the top bindings and purflings well underway. Just one side left to do and its finish sanding for this body.... |

Nice job Lance! I like the look of a 45 degree miter at the butt over the 90 degree myself. Thanks for posting. |

Cheers Kim Thanks Kim, Although I have been building all along, I must admit my participation at the OLF has been more work and no play, which has made me a dull boy ![]() Hopefully that is "nearing" the end of its dirty cycle and I can get on with it. |

I can't make out what's to the right of the end graft. It almost looks like a bezel, but it is on the back so obviously not that. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me ... Filippo Its a reflection on the back side of my chisel. Its how I line up my miter cut. |

Been listening to Mississippi John Hurt a bit lately. I'm a bit more of a classical guy, but decided to tune down a 000 and rip one extemporaneously after my brain had gotten Hurt Infused. I happened to kick voice memo on the iPhone - so the mediocre recording and all the little mistakes hopefully add color to an old timey sound. John's Hurt MP3 Filippo NICE! thanks Filippo! |

Nice combo of woods going there Lance. I think this is the first post I've ever seen of your building. Great work. That is one shiny chisel too! |

Lance, I just reviewed your pix and wondered (newb question), how did you leave the end graft so perfectly proud during binding routing, so that you can add the purfling even with the end graft? Thanks, Beth |

Okay, after writing that question, I realize that you routed a separate channel for the purfling... ![]() ![]() |

Its all one channel. The trick is to tape a piece of purfling to the back by the end wedge so the router has to step up that much higher, leaving you enough purfling to miter. |

So, you are taping the piece of purfling right onto the uppermost (and lowermost) edge of the end graft? I'm trying to get a visual and not sure I am on the right track. |

Beth, I think Lance is sizing up for the mitre cut. The routing has been stopped clear of the end graft to allow for that special picture frame mitre. |
