Anything wrong with running a strut across the entire side and then adding lining in between, so that the side brace actually touches the top and back? Thanks |

That's what I, & I'm sure a lot of others do. Just spanning the gap between linings invites an impact crack (at the shear line where the binding and side braces end) running right 'round the side. Full width braces will tend to keep it localized between the side braces. |

I doubt it's easier... actually kind of a pain getting all lining segments exactly the same lengths to keep side braces vertical....then thinning tiny 2-kerf pieces to cap the braces. (I've often thought how much easier it would be to just glue in one long piece if lining). |

Was easier for me. 1/4x1/4" spruce braces, quick work to fit the linings in between. |
