It seems to me that the feds have misunderstood the intent of the law and are overreaching a bit. As I understand it, EIR should not be illegal to import (according to India's own laws) as long as it is not "rough sawn" wood. If they plane it or thickness sand it, then it can be sold legally. (?) Furthermore, isn't EIR sustainably harvested? Maybe this is carryover from the BRW incident a few years ago...and the more recent Madagascar RW issues at Gibby? Perhaps these "oversights" have brought increased interest from big brother in all those fancy woods that make it to our shores? Trev |

Rand Paul was on Fox news tonight saying he and some others were about to introduce legislation to address this issue , so it seems to be getting a lot of attention. |
