Would someone please explain scale lengths in terms of what is available? Say Taylor full size guitars vs their "baby" guitars.

I'm not a Taylor expert......(I'm not an anything expert)
I think most Taylors have a 25.5 scale. Some of their smaller bodies have a 24.9" or so scale, with their GS Mini having a 23.5" scale.

For the most part (steel string acoustic) scales over 25" are considered "normal", with most under 25" commonly refered to as "Short Scale".

FWIW I use various scales from 25.5" down to 23.25"

What is the purpose of your query? If you are looking for a little guitar for a child, there are children's guitars out there. If you have historical interest, there have also been some very long scale examples that I don't think anyone would want to play today.

Lets just say that there really isn't a standard , it is a choice for the manufacturer to choose. One companies short scale may not match anthers.
