Hey, I recently bought a piece of nicely qs Anigre,
enough for about 3 Weisseys, for backs and sides,
and I'm doing finish tests on it.
It's pretty boring looking, but I kind of like it.
Am I shooting myself in the foot using it?
I plan on selling this next batch,
and am thinking maybe Af mahog might be a more sale-able wood.
Any thoughts?

I'm planning on sitka on da top.
My gut tells me hardwood ain't good topwood,
but I might be wrong.
Has it's place for a top.
quieter, more focused, blah blah blah.
Not as lively?

I bought a set of Anigre from Hibdon that is beautiful and very flamed. Beautiful stuff.

I haven't yet decided what I will use it on. How well does the curly stuff bend?

Bought anigre from local hdwd supplier . Yes , it is boringoooo, but it shimmers an contrasts very nicely with the colored woods I am using for binding and veneer. Beauty is in the eye of the maker . If you think it will look good , go for it, To my eye it looks best when mated with more intense colored woods. IMHO

It must have been bad.
Thanks for the input, folks.
Gonna keep thinking about using the wood,
and probably will.
Boring looking,
but sounds good.

Anigre is a great wood. As someone else said on this post has mentioned, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It should be teamed up with some contrasting binding. The curly and razor mottled stuff is absolutely stunning. Again, as mentioned, it plays hell with bandsaw blades. Full of silica. Have fun with the stuff you have. I think you will likek it as a tonewood.
