Post subject:  Number 100 !!!!

It has taken ten years, and a lot of trials and tribulations - but anyone of us who has built totally from scratch knows all that. So here it is .... Karol Guitars, build number 100.

It also happens to be a harp guitar .. Belair harp model as I call them, this one is the second one to be built. A couple minor changes from the initial version, namely changing the cutaway shape/length so it sits a little further up/out on the right thigh, and also fully binding the armrest. The armrest was slightly different there as well, the client wished to have it show curly maple peeping thru in the same manner as my Dragonfly guitar.

So .. specifics ....

Crazy quilt/figure sapele back and sides, cut from planks
Bearclaw sitka top from the Queen Charlotte Islands - reclaimed/salvaged, not cut down.
Honduran mahogany neck and harp headstock
Back of the harp headstock is blacked out in finish.
African blackwood fingerboard, headplates, bindings, and bridge
Cocobolo rosettes, with blk/green/blk purflings, added blk/maple/blk purfs on the top border.
Multiscale fingerboard, 25.25 to 25.5 scales
Added CF buttress rods from the neckblock down to the waist.
top is X braced in adi, back braced in englemann, maple bridge plate, smaller than a typical Dyer would be
Gotoh 510 gold/composite tuners (drilled out the lower two harp tuners to accept .080 and .072 gauge strings)
Strung with Daddario PB lights on the guitar, John Pierce custom gauge PBs on the subs (54,60,62,66,72,80, currently tuned D,C,B,G,E high to low).
K&K sound Pure western Mini dual system, in stereo config, guitar/subs. Thru my Bose L1 compact, using a K&K ST preamp, and the Bose soundmatch on Taylor T5 setting, the sound was huge with every string very defined.

Now onto the next 100 .....

Thanks all .. wonderful comments. It truly amazes me how the level of craftmanship from everyone has raised the bar. To look back at my first and think that somethig like this was even possible (heck, I didnt even know what a harp guitar was ten years ago ...).

David ... its OK, some of us work a little slower (and more precise right !!) ...besides, I have been cheating ... I use BIG power tools bliss

A great milestone to achieve Tony, and a great guitar to help celebrate with. May you get to 200 in the next 10 years. See you at Montreal.
