Post subject:  Recommendations on Binding/Purfling choices

Well, my major power tools arrived today (drum sander, drill press, bandsaw), and I'm chomping at the bit to get started on our guitar, which we are trying to build mainly for fingerstyle. This is what I'm thinking, but I'm open to others experience about whether or not this will turn out right.

OM with Florentine Cutaway
Back and Sides: Ribbon Honduran Mahogany
Top: Western Red Cedar
Binding/Purfling: Cocobolo w/ wbw purfling
Neck: Honduran Mahogany with a 1/4" strip of Cocobolo and a thin white laminate on each side of the coco. Not sure what would be good to use there.

Haven't decided on the fingerboard and bridge plate yet. I'm open to suggestions.

One of my concerns is the weight of the cocobolo. Since this is going to be a fingerstyle guitar, is the cocobolo going to add enough mass to the body/neck to take away some of the volume of the guitar?

Coco is a great wood for any style you want to. Lot of times it isn't the wood, but what you do with it to make a guitar to be what you want it to be.

Cocobolo makes great fingerboards. It is heavy but in the range of ebony.

I might consider something with more contrast for binding and neck stripe. Flamed walnut, or just good old ebony works well with mahogany. Leopardwood works to.
