Here are my regular stops when passing through LG ('lanta Georgia):
http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/index.aspx is always a great place to be tempted. Hold on to your wallet. Be sure to look through their clearance table upstairs. Several good restaurants in that neighborhood too.
http://www.utrechtart.com/stores#GA is nearby and has lots of Drafting accessories and art supplies. Grab an 18" Drafting triangle, a handful of white leaded pencils and a few Japanese Flat Hake Specialty brushes for shellac. They normally have a sale and discounts if you get on their email list. Park in the pay lot on the other side of Peachtree and get free parking in their reserved spaces. Decent coffee shop next door to the parking lot.
Frye's has a giant electronic store just off I-85 north of 285 junction. I get off 85 at Jimmy Carter Blvd.
A little further North, Mini-Max is just off I-85 if you're in the mood to see real Bandsaws.
Bass Pro World is a little North of Mini-Max if you need a fishin'/huntin'/boatin' fix. (I know...not really a Luthier destination...but you can get Tru-oil there
)South of town in Peachtree City is http://www.aircraftspruce.com/east.html. Look at the Grab Bag of Spruce. Enough brace material for a lifetime. If you ask nice you may be able to get them to allow you to go back and Cherry pick pieces out of their Cut-off pile to make up 20 pounds. You may end up with a few tops. Bearclaw is a defect to them. Not bad for ~$40.
A few miles further south on I-85 is http://www.redmond-machinery.com/ In addition to a huge showroom of new equipment, they are an outlet for seconds/overstocks for Jet/Powermatic/Wilton and sell a fair amount of used Industrial equipment.
