Post subject: | Setup for medium gauge strings |
Wondering what, if any, specific considerations there are when making a guitar which will have medium gauge strings on it (and be played pretty hard by a working musician). Obviously the nut slots are cut for the appropriate string diameters, but are there other things about the build, such as changing the dimensions or configuration of braces, the type of wood for bridge plate, the thickness of the top, etc. ? Thanks, Beth |

Thanks Trevor, I reopened that thread to get some more specific questions answered, but it was exactly the discussion I needed. (I imagine my search didn't turn it up because I was looking at string gauge....). How's that beautiful Shed guitar opening up for you? Beth |

In need to spend more time playing and less time building! I played "The Shed" for about an hour Friday night and it sounded better for it at the end. Eventually, I'll get it recorded... |
