On my recent thread talking about order of operations in setting final action people were talking about using feeler gauges to set the action at .005" (among other heights). I see that stew mac has a pretty nice set of feeler gauges, but none that are that thin. Any body have a source for a set that includes a size around .005"? |

Thanks Todd. Just after posting this, I also did a search on this new thing I found called "google". Come to find out, grizzly (in my hometown of springfield) has a set from .0015" to .035" for less than $6. Amazing isn't it. http://www.grizzly.com/products/Feeler- ... -pc-/G9616 And I won't even have to pay shipping. |

I would suggest that you don`t get completely dependent on them. For me there more of a fine tuning adjustment,And a little protection.I have blown a nut ,using them when I wasn`t paying attention to all the variables that can be involved. In conjuction with the SM height gauge this has been a pretty good arsenal for me when attacking a nut job. If you look around, you can find "go-no-go"feeler guages. They are very useful for setting string height. These guages look normal at a glance, but the tip is ground .002" thinner than the rest of the feeler. Strings are easily deflected when sliding the feeler under the strings, the "No-Go" feature really helps in getting consistent results. Just remember, if stacking a bunch together to use the thicker section, not the thinner tips. Here's a link... http://www.sears.com/kd-tools-go-no-go- ... 994141000P |
