Hi there, This guitar is for my son who is a working musician. I sent it off with him a few weeks back and it has been used on twenty gigs. I said, tongue in cheek, give it a flogging and play it in a bit. It has a K&K mini western pickup system fitted and he liked the fact that the whole guitar is very responsive when plugged into the PA so it has been subjected to some Tommy Emanual tapping. He brought it back to me all sheepish last week and said there is a noise that sounds like a brace has lifted. I knew this guitar was going to be well played so I built it as strong as possible and I thought surely a brace hasn't lifted. Turned out the fingerboard is vibrating on the top when he taps it. Phewwww!!!! I will get him to gig it for another twenty gigs and once we are both happy with the setup I will spot glue the fingerboard down. Happy ending! fix The guitar is all Blackwood and I must say it sounds dang good. I must thank Bob Connor for picking out a suitable top for me. I have heard other guitars with hardwood tops and they seemed tight sounding and a bit thin to me. This one surprised me and sounded good from the start so I am very pleased. There will be a mp3 of the guitar in the near future. Top back and sides: Blackwood from Bob Connor Appointments: Indian Rosewood from Shane at High Mountain Tonewoods Neck: NGR from Micheal Connor Machine Heads: Black Schallers Pickup: K&K Mini Western System Here are a few pictures for you all and thanks for looking. Cheers Alan |

That's very cool looking! Is it unbound, or stealth bound? Mike |

Beautiful!! I really like the overall effect of all blackwood with no bindings. I've thought about going with no bindings, but haven't decided which woods to try it on. The blackwood is a nice candidate, since the wood works well for both top and back/sides, like koa. |

Your son must be proud of you (and vise versa by the sounds of it). Really like the rossette, given me an idea too. Look forward to hearing it soon, please. |

Very nice! Does it sound similar to an all mahagony guitar? |

Thanks Alex, Gene, Joe and Quine for you comments. I appreciate your encouragement. Danny it doesn't sound like mahogany. More like a spruce top but the treble is thin. The guitar due to its size is very mid range orientated and the string balance is good. The top was hand picked and it was much lighter in weight to the back. Cheers Alan |

I love the aesthetics, understated, really nice. Just one thing though, trim those string ends! Colin |

G'day Colin, Thanks for your kind words. Yes if the guitar was mine the string ends would be all nicely trimmed but these cheap ass musicians such as my son like to string up this way incase of a string break so they can maybe get more life out of a string. Cheers Alan |
