Post subject:  Notches in bridge Fedor Fatovich

I recently acquired an unusual guitar made by Fedor Fatovich. The bridge has two pieces. Notches are cut into the "added on" piece. The largest notch is for string #1 and the smallest notch for string #6. Does anyone have any idea what the luthier intended with these notches? Does anyone know anything about Fedor Fatovich?

Thanks so much.

Looks to me like the second piece of wood on the tie block is actually some kind of a repair, or 'redesign' of the bridge. What appears as notches seem like traces of the old design prior to the repair.

Looks like it could be a pinless bridge...? :?
