This is the second walnut and cedar dread I have finished. I love it. Here are pics:
More info will be added tonight, but I need to be fast now:
I decided to do my first outdoor photo shoot with this guitar. I am still learning how to take good pics, but these are ok for now.

I was propping the guitar up with my foot for a few pics and I thought the pic of my foot reflecting in the guitar was pretty cool. I am most likely wrong about that, but here it is anyway.

Again very attractive! One comment: perhaps a back strip would have worked well with that grain.

I just noticed I did not take a single picture of the back by itself. I thought the book match was pretty darn good! I better take a pic so you can see it better...at which point you may REALLY think it needs a back strip!! Or not. We shall see.

Beautiful guitar Tony. I love the rosette. Is your bridge laminated?

Oh the bookmatch is excellent indeed. It is just that I would add a strip when the joint is evidenced by the various light reflections of the grain, like in the second photo. In the first and especially third I like it as it is.

Adding a back strip is a tough call for me personally. I love the look of the wood by itself, but I also love the look of a well executed back strip. Bruce Sexauer has done purfling lines without a backstrip to highlight a sapwood center and to me, it looks incredible. You have also done some outstanding back strips, like this one:

I appreciate your input Alexandru. Thanks!

Thanks! Personally I wouldn't bother with them whenever possible (less work and feels safer structurally) but some people insist on them or pay for "full decoration". I regularly buy sapwood sets to get natural strips, and built one (but unfortunately often the sapwood turns out to be rotten)
