Does anyone know if the Epiphone EL-00 shape and dimensions are the same as Gibson L-00?

Thanks!

If you look at these two images, they seem quite a bit different shape.

Pat -

I'm almost certain the EL-00 has a wider lower bout but I don't have a Gibson here to compare it to. I have an EL-00 around here somewhere if you like some measurements.

Dave, that is different. Looks like the model might be EL00-"VS". But the regular EL00 looks pretty close.

Thanks Dave, I was hoping to find someone who could compare both. I want to build an L-00 and was thinking to buy a cheap EL-00 to get a template and a feel for that size guitar.

This plan drawn from (IIRC) a '39 L-00 is free to download and have printed. I just completed building from this plan. I love the shape and size.

Pat,
I made a L-00 and used the GAL plans for the body shape. It fits perfectly in a EL-00 case. From that I would conclude that they are pretty close. I have a template that I made for the body shape (inside mold) and a template for the outside mold. They are really accurate. I would be happy to make you a copy template for both. I would make them out of 1/4" mdf and you could pattern route molds from them and make a plastic template from them as well. Mine are mdf and that works just fine.
BTW great body shape. Love mine.
