There was this beautiful set of brazilian that was warped beyond use at all, and I decided to apply basic guitar bending skills to it. I got two sheets of aluminum and put them in my kitchen oven at 280.After twenty minutes I took them out and slid both rosewood back blanks in between .With light pressure down on the top aluminum sheet I was able to slowly get the sheets to flaten out. A bunch of small clamps were slowly added and the whole thing went back into a 290 over for 25 minutes. Took it out and let it cool for 3 hours, unclamped it and the wood is perfect! dead flat.
I did this about 6 years ago to another set of brazilian and the guitar back is still dead flat. It works.[img][IMG]

Thanks for sharing your process, but no one wants to see the shot of aluminum laying on your stove. Where's the Braz, dude?!

THe top sheet is 1/4 and the bottom sheet is 3/16. got them from a local machine shop from their scrap bin. A photo of the back veneer.

Thanks for the great tip Michael!
At what temperature do you bend the brazilian sides, 280/290?
Let us know when the guitar is finished, I would enjoy seeing it!

Wow thats great, my guitar making teacher Bill Kelday told me a story about a guy he knew who had the same problem with his set of Brazillian Rosewood, his solution was to book into a hotel and use the the large built in trouser press with great results,

I've used a flat iron to iron these through a moist towel and then clamp flat while still hot.....worked well.
