Post subject:  Anyone Going to Hibdon Hardwoods Friday sale?
Hey all you luthiers lucky enough to live around St Louis. (lucky??? laughing6-hehe )
I plan to be at the Hibdon Black Friday sale tomorrow morning. If anyone else is around, it would be nice to meet.
I really don't need any more wood but I can't resist. There's something nice about walking through a valley of guitar woods. bliss

Going , but probably not till sat morning ... I HATE being out on black friday !! :x

I didn't realize they were having one. When are you guys going? Though I really don't need to be vying wood right now. . .

So Wud, you are going to be in town this weekend? Do you think you'll have time to grab lunch or something?

I went down on Friday morning. They didn't have the guitar woods on sale, just lumber and off-cuts.
Still...I scored some nice spanish cedar that will be fine for necks. I poured through the pile of random sides and back plates and found some nice mahogany that's big enough for ukuleles. Probably enough wood for 3 or 4 projects for a total of $9 ($8.95 actually). Can't beat it!!

Wud and I went up there Saturday. I got one of those Spanish cedar necks and picked through the $0.25 slices of cherry. I got some sides and back peices that are big enough for an O size guitar (completely missing the worm holes). In the exotic cut-off bin I found fretboards and bridges for a Uke and the above mentioned O size guitar. I'm most pleased with the mahogany grab bag. It was filled with heel blocks and neck blanks (if I learn the v joint). Quine, next time you're there, grab one. You'll find quite a few Uke necks. I ended up with quite bunch of goodies for $12.29. I think Wud spent 10 times that and made me help him load up. My only regret was that he bought some figures mahogany shorts right out from under me :)
