The Chinese have no respect for life of any form other than themselves. They are responsible for most of the poaching of Elephants, Rhinos, Tigers, Rosewood, and recently I've heard - Manta Rays. Their arrogance as a nation has outpaced that of the US in my opinion, and they seem unwilling to change. Recently I started watching a show called "Jungle Gold" on Discovery Channel, a spin-off of the "Gold Rush" show, and the Chinese are there in Africa stealing gold from lands practically at gunpoint. I don't want to be guilty of generalizing all Chinese people, I know plenty who are great souls, but as a nation they are rapidly developing and gaining in wealth, and with that comes the excess that a self-centered mindset brings. Much like the US consumed vast amounts of the world's resources during the industrial revolution and the decades that followed, even up to recent years - the Chinese seem determined to follow that path, and horrifically that probably means the end of many species of fauna and flora on this great planet of ours.
We should use this as a wake-up call to try to be better citizens of this planet ourselves. Be the change.
