on my bench is a conn strobe tuner . I use a snark for getting close. There are may options out there . The apps on a smart phone are pretty cool but I don't own one. |

I don't know how accurate it is, but I use a free program called AP tuner and a usb mic. |

I have an app on my Droid phone called g-strings. Checked against the Peterson it its just as accurate, just not as convenient. |

if everybody is out of tune and you are , tell them LOL with today's software and the tuners using cpu's it is hard to find a bad one. |

I used to use a Peterson strobe, but when I downloaded the Peterson app for the iPhone I took them both to the University to check for accuracy against my lab strobes, and the iPhone app was equally as accurate as the Peterson strobe, certainly far more accurate than the ear can perceive. So I sold the strobe and now happily use the phone app. I also have the Planet Waves tuner (TuneUp) on the iPhone, and guess what that is just as accurate as well, and I would be equally happy using that. All of these apps are more accurate than your ears, and anyway, as soon as someone else frets the guitar the intonation changes with their pressure, so what may be perfect on your bench, will go off as soon as someone else plays it, it'll even vary, during a gig as their finger pressure changes with fatigue. What I'm saying is that final intonation is in the fingers of the players. Listen to a great player like Martin Simpson and he could pick up just about any guitar and his ear and fingers will play it perfectly intonated. Colin |

I use an older model Peterson strobe. Got it off Ebay for about $125 or so. Works great. I like to hear the little wheels spinning. Can't get that on an Iphone app! |

Thanks for the replies. I don't even own a cell phone much less a smart one. I have been looking at the Peterson. I also saw good reviews about the Seiko SAT800 Chromatic Tuner. Anyone familiar with this one? Again thanks for the input. |

See if you can get someone to give you their old iphone. I don't have a cell phone but my sister gave me her old i phone. Not connected to anything but before she gave it to me she downloaded the Peterson tuner app. For $10 I have a extremely accurate tuner. L. |

The Strobsoft app. runs great on an Ipod touch which is what I use as I also don't have a cell phone. I a;so use the free version of the AP tuner program on my lap top and it is also very accurate. Fred |

DaTuner Pro is great! Only tried it on Android. Gives frequency, note, and cents sharp or flat. Also can turn on a strobe tuner if desired. |
