Post subject:  Repairing a Finish Run
Sprayed the 00 I'm building today. I guess I focused a bit too much on getting finish inside the slots on the slotted headstock and I have a run on the headstock face.

Any tips on removing the run? Easy enough to sand down but it's also easy to sand through the finish around the run before leveling the run.

Darryl : I assume it nitro. Try a single edge razor blade with a wrap of masking tape on each end as a scraper. Generally the longer you wait before scraping, the more the run will pull back.

Worked for me today, and for a few drop fills (water based). I turned a light hook on the blade first, like a scraper.

scrape and wet sand you can make it look like nothing happened

If the run was in the first couple coats, I'd leave it and keep spraying. The more the put on, the more it will level out. If it still persists when you go to level sand, make sure the finish is plenty dry and use the razor blade scraper method above before flat sanding.
