Post subject:  My Latest Build

Hi All

Haven't posted any of my guitars on the Forum so I thought I'd put up some pictures of the latest.
This guitar is basically a "OOO" with some minor modifications. Sound board, back & sides are Australian Blackwood. Bindings, heel cap and tuner buttons are Bloodwood. Neck is Mahogany. Star fret board markers (the owner is David Starr and he lives in Star, Idaho). Tuners are Gotoh 510. Bridge & peg head veneer are Ebony. Thanks for looking and feel free to comment, question or constructively criticize - mdg

Thanks Randolph. I think it sounds very good. I strung it up for the first time last Saturday and I expect it to sound even better as it plays in. -mdg

That is a beautiful instrument. The bracing looks pretty heavy for a spruce top but I've never seen an Australian Blackwood top. If it sounds great it obviously worked well. What top thickness did you eventually wind up with?

Terrence

I believe the top ended up at 0.110 or so. [headinwall] Geez!, that is one of the things I like to write down for every build and I forgot on this one. Thanks for reminding me - mdg

It's gorgeous - really nice work! I'm not usually a fan of bloodwood, but it looks really good in the context you created.
