????? "We call “cámara” an interior fan, also designed by Ramírez, glued in the middle of the sides. We can build any of your guitars with this fan if the customer orders it specifically. The fan can be made of Indian rosewood or red cedar or German spruce. It takes away the “wolf” notes, and it helps the sound to be clear, where the notes are perfectly separated between them. The rosewood fan was introduced for the first time by my father, José Ramírez III, with a very good result regarding the cleanliness of the sound. The red cedar and the German spruce fan was introduced by me, adding to the cleannness of the sound a very similar effect to the 10 string guitar. It is an ideal instrument for Barroque and Renaissance music. Its construction details are the same as the Traditional guitar. " |

In Spanish Ramírez call this part "aleta" which means fin (certainly not fan as they write in their translated page - must be a typo). |

'Designed by Ramirez'. 'Introduced. . . first by my father. . . That's stretching the truth, to say the least. If indeed it is a claim to be the first to use such a feature. Anyway, they were beaten to it by the best part of 150 years. |

Are there photos of the 150 year old version? It's interesting that for all of the fabulous improvements that Ramirez claims with this feature, they do not install it standard in their guitars. It does not look like a very expensive item to omit if it is so great. |

I remembering reading that in Ramirez's book. He called it the Camera if my translation was correct. I thought however that he said it was kind of interesting but not really worth pursuing. |

Back in the days of French Romantic Guitars double Backs (or double Tops) existed, some with, some without soundholes in the secondary Back. The Ramirez is just a secondary Back with a larger cut out. |
