Thanks for the input, guys! I've got a bunch of soft maple for some cabinetry that I am building, and there is quite a bit of it with some nice curl. I'll set some aside for future use!

Godin uses tons of it for necks and if there were problems with it they would no doubt stop using it. |

I use carbon fiber bars to stiffen up soft maple. Otherwise, stability can be an issue. |

Nothing wrong with it. The figured (curly) blanks can be very nice when finished. Even the "soft" maples tend to be stiffer than mahogany for the weight, but having the maple well-quartered is important since very few woods compare to mahogany in the stability department. . Also, it's generally harder to work than mohagany (or substitutes), but I think finishing maple is much easier. |

same as above.Underrated by some, and beloved by others. The early vlnmakers in 16 th century Italy used what was available locally , euro maple is slightly heavier than our soft maple and vy similiar to red or michigan maple IMHO haven/t tested it but feels abt the same density as euro maple.Lots of 19 th century romantic gtr necks and bodies were made from euro maple. |
