Post subject:  Gateway Area Luthiers 2013 Registration Link Up !

We have had a HUGE influx of new people in recent months . For those that are not aware of our yearly gathering and are in the " Area " Of St. Louis , I am posting this years Information . If you want more Info , Or want to be added to the Email List Contact Contact me at wiksnwudwerks@aol.com

Hello everyone , I know I am way late getting this going and for that I apologize .

Yes we will be looking at May 18th ( 3rd ) sat again this year for the show . Ken Jeffs will be setting up a registration form and and emailing them soon . Based on last years show and the cost involved we will be changing things a bit . The group will be taking on the cost more so than last two years . Hibdon has been very generous to us and we do appreciate that effort . They have again offered the building as the location for the show and will supply their employees to assist as always . The following is what we are looking at for this year.

( 1 ) Saturday May 18th for the show . 9am to 4pm

( 2 ) $20.00 registration fee " non Refundable" ( Thats for a Table to display builds )
we will set up a Paypal account for the proceeds and all will be kept in the loop as to how much and what the proceeds are used for , Food , Table rental etc:

( 3 ) We will be approaching a local radio station for advertising , as well as high end guitar shops to invite " players " or those interested in Building

( 4 ) I have talked to Hibdon about using the dock area " Ground Floor " for the show a bit more room , but very little electricity ..... Not determined yet .

( 5 ) Ken Jeffs " Tie Hackers " Have agreed to be there and we will set aside an area to have some "jams" should anyone wish to jump in and play a particular instrument " builders descretion of course " this is not a "show" , but will encourage a bit of involvement in playing

( 6 ) Hibdon will be offering a straight across the board discount on purchases this year , amount has been mentioned but I will let everyone know the set amount as we go along.

( 7 ) We have a couple Demos in the works , and the times for those will be set and a sheet with the days events passed out so those who wish to attend can do so. ( 1 ) is we are trying to arrange to have a "burst demo " done ( 2 ) is a French Polish demo as well .

( 8 ) We are looking at the possibility of finding a hotel where those who travel might want to get together after the show and spend some time hanging out before heading back on Sunday .. I would like to get feed back if anyone is interested in this idea .
( 9 ) Wood craft has agreed to have a sponsor table this year , I am hoping to have a couple more as well . I will update that as soon as I am able .

I am sure there are many questions , I will try and answer as much as I can.

We have formed a small group to head this up to hopefully make it flow better . Jim Lindley , Ken Jeffs Bryan Bear , Joe Mendel , Craig Finnegan.

Please give me or the others feed back on this ,

Thanks Jim L.

Thanks for the update. I am getting super excited for the show this year. I plan on booking a hotel soon(ish), so let me know if you get a "community" hotel arranged. Thanks.

hmm I'll have to look when I'm there. I've actually never ate in town. My mom is always cooking and there is always plenty of food around the house so I've never had the need to find a restaurant when I was there. I may have to look into your restaurant suggestion though (I have a feeling they will serve spinach, hahaha)

Done [:Y:] Now hopefully I can actually make it out there this time  Happy to support Hibdon and the gathering in any case. No need to buy lunch for me, I'd rather bring my own anyway. And I'll probably be bringing 3 or 4 instruments... not sure if that would be able to squeeze into half a table or not.

Perhaps I'll stroll down for a visit. Maybe convince one of the other Northerners to roadtrip with me.
I could do a demo on beating an uncooperative piece of wood into submission with a framing hammer.

Hey Wud
I am planning to be there. If you want, I could do a demo on how I do a radial grain rosette. Demo would only take about 10-15 minutes

By the way, I am pretty much recovered from hip surgery - I can bend sides for you any time you are ready
Steve - Road trip! But you might have to help a buddy of mine help set up his shop. But then we can room and board for free

John

Hey wud, got a question or two for ya. I am going to attend and want to watch the demos so that is $10. (I would display but don't have anything but a couple half done guitars, well guitar shaped objects that is). My fiancée will probably tag along for the trip but will be bored outta her mind lol. For her do I pay the $10 also because she will be with me or just the $5 visitor fee? I'm happy to pay either just want to send the correct amount. Thanks
