Chris, here's my take on the backstrap volute, albeit hard to see. This is for a ziricote and alpine spruce Odalisque that I'm finishing with Sutherland Welles U500 on the back, sides, and neck, and I'll be using their polymerized tung oil on the top. So far I'm loving the U500, with a detailed description of my experience and observations forthcoming in a separate thread. Image

Going to spray the finish on my 00 sized guitar. The body in the pictures has 2 coats of zpoxy sanded back with a diluted coat wiped on. I will be spraying with EM6000.

Have new shop almost set up. I need to organize it this week end. Hoping to get my inlay cut out for my 2013 challenge build and installed. Tearing apart another piano. " Which I am starting to get down. It's takes me about 2 hours." I'm doing a open mic tonight and tomorrow night.

Had a bit of luck today, seems that witness lines when sanding through Enduro-Var gloss layers will buff out. bliss

+1 on the rosette, Micah.

Also working on a backstrap. Cut and bound the profile this evening. Need to get it glued on yet. NCAA's getting in the way, so this will be the only progress this evening.

Lots of repair work. A nasty finish repair on a dark green bust LP That I came in Thursday night at about 10 and has to be back Monday, Pick up install first up in the morning for a customer who will wait on it, A Gibson with a bad split down just the treble side of the top at the FB extension, a Bridge re-glue, Oh and yes that's right, trying to keep my two builds on track.

If you haven't been checking out the restoration & repair section - I finished reducing the sound hole size on my OLF challenge dred from 4 1/4" to 4". First time I've tried that and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Chris, Ken J and Ken C: all three of those back strap treatments are REALLY nice looking. I'd like to try each of them!

Today I resanded the sides of my Bubinga - am I ever glad I did! No more minute scratches. I also did a dry run, fitting my neck to the body and it turned out to be a great fit. Tomorrow I'll glue on the neck, make a bridge, work the frets and...... let it sit - I forgot to buy a saddle and bridge pins. [headinwall] Lmao.

nice end graft! Is the walnut and redwood as similar in color as it appears in the pictures? I like it.

Wow! Nice work out there! I'll be running around to local nurseries all weekend, buying plants, shrubs and trees, then plugging them in the ground. My back hurts just thinking about it. Luckily the weather is absolutely wonderful here right now, so it'll be nice working outside.

Thanks for sharing the photos!
