Todd don/t get angry, get even , Build a brand new gtr based on this model. Seems like there are a number of builders doing reproductions of old time models |

I always say "Make the customer happy". I try not to put my feelings into business. It is hard sometimes and sometimes it goes against everything we stand for but making money is what we do. I had a guy bring in a really nice Martin D28 and wanted me to do a Gibson burst on it... I told him it would cut the value of his guitar in half but he didn't care... He got his burst and I got the cash... Of course I did it the right way and removed the neck and bridge... When he came to pick it up he loved it and in turn he showed it off to all his friends and I ended up getting more work because I made him happy. So I try and not get my feelings in the way of business. Like I said, sometimes you just have to bite your lip and get on with it. Jobs are hard enough for me to come by so I am not about to turn someone away because I don't agree with what they want. just my 2c |

Todd Stock wrote: effort on the frets and the perfect neck reset...for no apparent reason. Had the customer said he wanted to play it as a dobro, I could have saved him a grand. True, but now when he decides he wants it to be a guitar again, he'll be able to play it. The Dobro phase might not last very long if he decides to get an actual dobro. He may just be trying out the style to see if he likes it. |
