I'm looking for some c-clamps for a crack repair... I need about an 8-9" throat, so 2-3" longer than Shop Fox bridge clamps. The soundhole is really small so my long cam clamps won't fit. I ordered some of these: http://www.harborfreight.com/8-inch-dee ... 45917.html which look cheap and ideal sized but they appear to be sold out. Any ideas? |

If you knock the corners off the lower arm of a StewMac 8 1/2" cam clamp, it will fit in most classical guitars. Don't know if that helps you. Attachment: clmpshrnk1.JPG Attachment: clmpshrnk2.JPG Attachment: clmpshrink3.JPG

Hmm... for this guitar not quite but if I made a cam clamp with a curved bottom like so: Attachment: modified_cam_clamp.jpg it seems like the arch would make it stiff and the curvature would make it easy to fit inside a smaller guitar. Does anyone make something like this? |

I have those harbor freight deep reach clamps. They are heavy as hell and would probably cause more damage then they are worth. I tried using them for an acoustic and you could actually see the top flexing from the weight of them. Tom West had the same exact idea for a clamp that I had when I first read your post. |

Good to know about the HF clamps... I think I'll just make a curved-bottom cam clamp and see if that does the trick. The LMI clamp seems like a clever idea but looks very light duty... I need some pretty decent clamping pressure. |
